A fundraising project put together by Ice Breaking Care Society (IBCS) in partnership with Homeland International Inc. (HII) and Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC).
Together, our goal is to raise $1,000,000 by the end of 2009 to fund equipment for the operation of Sino Canada Norman Bethune Hospital in Sichuan and to purchase mobile clinics to serve remote provinces of China (mainly provinces of Sichuan, Guizhou, Qinghai and Gangsu).
In response to the hazardous ice storms and destructive Sichuan earthquake last 2008, IBCS was immediately concerned and raised funds to help with the delivery of food aid and medical supplies to the affected regions.
Along their visits, members of the IBCS team noticed the tremendous lack of basic medical services in the poor regions of China.
A group of medical expertise from Vancouver and Toronto are now working together to provide long-term mobile clinics to serve remote regions in China and medical equipment to rebuild a hospital in the epic center of the Sichuan Earthquake.
The hospital will be named Sino Canada Norman Bethune Hospital and will serve a population of 100,000.
IBCS is asking all communities in Toronto to assist them in raising funds for the mobile clinics and hospital by becoming members of Club 500 and donating to NBMRF.
